This is really part of the bigger whisper campaign.
Last nights service meeting had the part on doing just so, I couldnt believe it when they said "direction from Jehovah or the faithful slave" , very loaded, basically stressing that both are equal authority.
They also drew comparisons between themselves and Moses in terms of leadership.
These guys really believe they are guided by HS. Do they really expect
What has me in stitches is how americo-centric the society is, 9/10ths of the world have been financially stressed for decades and the price of fuel in the UK has been ten times that in the US since the 80's but now all this fear of economic hardship!!
They love fear as a means of motivating.
It would be really interesting to see if the cycles of doom propagated by the GB coincide with the global economic cycle. Has anyone ever seen if they are synchronized?

Furuli. The prominent elder in Norway not too popular among top dogs
by Samuel Thorsen ina trustworthy source has given me the opportunity to share some information about rolf furuli.
a well known apologist og and greatly respected elder in norway and a schoolar at the university of oslo.
he does not compleatly agree with the fds in all cases i guess, and lately he has spoken up in his local congo about 3 subjects.. # 1. education.

Is Furuli 'scholar'?
What an insult!
Scholar is a tradesman ( not that there's anything wrong with that) that falsely asserts he has done/is doing his masters.
He did a BA majoring in religious studies, anyone that understands the educations system in Australia knows thats tantamount to a library card.
I think I am more qualified as a scholar having read the bible stories book.
He is not used or recognized by the society on any level and is certainly not an elder.
He is merely a dog with a 607 bone. ( am not referring to him as a dog, merely rewording an old expression) -

Is the Watchtower finally changing for the better?
by Dead Man Joaquin ini'm having a hard time figuring things out here.
the last few years it's become increasingly cultish - i.e.
the public & kool-aid editions, the infamous november(?

I agree in that on some levels mixed signals are being sent.
But the fact is they are going through the same cycle of 1919, that is, major doctrinal and organizational changes.
When Rutherford took over, he basically culled the Bible students, renamed the org and sacked any elder not appointed by him, they even went as far as to cut out Public talks altogether, so when I hear about publics talks getting cut to 30 mins or meetings being dropped it just reminds me of the start to the Rutherford era.
One thing this makes me think of is when the WTBTS says "where else can you go" "aren't we the ones that taught you the truth about Hell and immortality of the soul and the trinity".
They werent, if anyone it came from Miller and then Russell, they passed it on then Russel died.
He died years before the so called inspection in 1919 so technically he wasnt a member of the "faithful and discreet slave" that was appointed in 1919.
Ive said this before and I'll say it again, this is the weakest point in the WT assertion that they are the "faithful and discreet slave".
Rutherford was an opportunistic business man that saw money in the early eschatological movement. He was the one that started this whole FDS thing.
He was the one that demonized he Bible students, he made the org what it is today, Russell didnt start the Jehovahs Witness movement, Rutherford did, and its Rutherfords model that still exists, but the flaw of the Rutherford model is the legal liability it puts on the WTBTS, thats where we will see changes.
So any lurkers here or people thinking the ORG is in the middle of a reformation, your right, it is being remodeled to fit the current legal environment, period, dont expect a break from 'the rules'.
You go back and read WT's around the time Rutherford took over and see how many references there are to the 'faithful slave' and compare it to now. Same same. -

Graduation and elders meeting!
by why??? inhi everyone, i'm not new here just haven't posted in a while.
for those who remember me i'm graduating from college on wednesday!!!!
i'm very happy but there's still a dark cloud (pardon the dramatic-ness) i am still with my non-jw boyfriend of almost three years and i've let my parents know that we want to get married (next month) and they went and told the elders(they did it kinda behind my back) who now want to meet and talk with me!

I tend to agree with 'choosing life'.
I have been hesitant to comment of what I see as a personal post but this one has struck a chord so I will break my rule.
As you probably know, chess is a game where you consider many moves ahead and at the moment you have to make a decision that will benefit you in the long term and short.
Your parents have gone behind your back as you say so either your father is reaching out or he is deluded into thinking that the elders might change your mind.
If you dont go, there will be repercussions...sad but true, if you do go and rightfully stick up for your civil and basic human rights there will be repercussions.
If you dont care about that, then do what you will however if you want to 'manage" the situation, play the game, go to the meeting, be friendly, humble and polite, ask for more WT references and tell them you appreciate the visit and that you will go away and pray about it.
They will report good things back to the elder body, your parents save face and all is good.
It will either die down or you simply say you love him and you caont help but follow it through, the response will be pity rather than attack.
Thats my legal opinion. -

GB Anthony Morris 2007 DC Talk DESPERATE PLEADINGS
by doinmypart ingb anthony morris gave the final talk on friday's 2007 follow the christ dc.
in the talk he gives reasons for the r&f to trust the fds specifically the gb.. the talk is nauseating, but shows how desperate the gb has become.
they're losing control of the r&f and they know it.. jwd member booby originally posted this speech on the "gb solidifies ownership" thread.

"Thats all there is to it"
Interesting quote, all one has to do in order to be saved is show unquestioning obedience in the governing body.
What sort of people are they wanting to attract? -

A general post to all on this thread.
Scholar is by no means a scholar in the true sense of the word, he is not used in any capacity by the WT.
Further, he has NOT completed his master as he exhaustedly asserts.
Scholar I have read through years of your posts and I must say this in this post you have been most thoroughly put to the test and found wanting. -

TURIN SHROUD/ Has anyone found a faith after leaving??
by chuckyy inhi.. ive recently been reading some really interesting stuff about the turin shroud, how it could be authentic after all, and the evidence that points to its authenticity.
of course, this gives me reason for thinking that "what if the gospels are true after all?
has anyone else here looked at the subject of the turin shroud??.

CTR said "religion is a snare and a racket".
The questions should be " has anyone found faith after leaving". -

Scholar, you just got owned by Billy the x! -

Mary,
Scholar JW is by no means a sagacious scholar.
I have asked him the most simplest of questions and he tucked tail and ran.
Our little self proclaimed ANZAC scholar(sic) is not what he purports to be and I intend to flush that wiley fox out. -
